Dr. Maria J. San Andrés was born and raised in Bryan/ College Station, TX. Her family is originally from Quito, Ecuador. She received her B.S. in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University and her M.D. from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Bryan/ College Station, TX. She completed her Pediatric residency at UTMB. She loves the beach and UTMB, so decided to stay at UTMB as faculty. She began working at UTMB in the General Pediatrics Clinic and at the St. John's Hospital Newborn Nursery. She currently works in the outpatient General Pediatric Clinic and enjoys teaching the medical students and residents and seeing her Spanish Speaking patients and their families. She is the Vice President for the Childhood Cancer Connection which is a non-profit organization which helps children with cancer and blood disorders and their families. In her free time, she loves taking pictures, traveling, and being a mom to her daughter, Adelina, who is 3.5 years old and Martín, who is 6 months old.
